Aakye is the studio practice of Los Angeles–based artist Alexander Kaye.

The work translates aesthetic elements from Kaye’s fine art practice into functional forms, balancing utility with improvisation. Each piece incorporates freehand drawings and engravings made directly into the objects' surface, allowing subtle variation to emerge through the making process.

All works are designed, fabricated, and hand-assembled in-house at Kaye’s studio in East Los Angeles, California.

  • Yes - all objects are designed and assembled in East Los Angeles, California. Engravings are done by hand using rotary engraving tools.

  • Yes - Each piece will contain a handmade marking of 'Aakye' and the date of fabrication.

  • Pieces with "Inquire For Price" are shown with the exact pictures of what you will receive. Pieces marked with prices are shown with an example picture of the style and form very similar to what you will receive. The dimensions, material, finish and style of these pieces will be the same as the example pictures shown - the engravings are all unique hand-drawn markings and will vary from piece to piece. This is a natural part of the process for making these pieces and gives each piece a special quality and explorative nature.

  • Objects are carefully packed by hand and shipped fully insured from our studio in East Los Angeles California. Tracking information is provided once your order ships.

    Shipping is currently offered only to North America through our website. Please contact ak@aakye.com for more information about international shipping.

  • We take great pride in the craftsmanship and care behind every Aakye object. Each item is made by hand, and slight variations are part of the beauty and individuality of the work. Due to the handmade and made-to-order nature of these objects, all sales are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges for any reason, including changes of mind, minor imperfections, or small variations from product photos. These are inherent aspects of handmade work.

  • Our studio and shop is located in East Los Angeles California in the neighborhood of City Terrace. All pieces are designed, made, and shipped from this location.

  • These pieces are made-to-order and there is no guarantee of any particular production longevity for an object or design. Objects may become available or unavailable at any time as their fabrication is tied to an inherently evolving art practice.
